The Kentucky Public Health Association’s (KPHA) Workforce Development (WFD) Committee is excited to announce that a new Local Health Department (LHD) Training Calendar will be launching on August 5, 2026. This has been a collaborative effort between the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH), Kentucky Health Departments Association (KHDA) and the Office of Application Technology Services (OATS).
What is the LHD Training Calendar?
This is a centralized platform where LHD staff can easily search for and access training opportunities from across internal and external partners. Users will be able to filter training sessions based on topic area, dates, continuing education units (CEU), and other categories to quickly find opportunities that are most relevant to their work.
Why this Matters: This new tool is designed to:
- Provide a centralized location to house training opportunities
- Help staff quickly find relevant training based on their role and interests
- Increase awareness of both required and optional training opportunities
- Support ongoing workforce development across all LHDs
Access: The calendar will be accessible through KYID, Kentucky’s centralized identity and access management system - previously known as Kentucky Online Gateway (KOG).
Timeline: User testing will be conducted in July with a statewide launch of the LHD Training Calendar on August 5th. LHD employees will have the opportunity to participate in training sessions to learn how to access and use the new calendar.
Important: The LHD Training Calendar will not function as a Learning Management System (LMS) and it is NOT replacing TRAIN or any other LMS.
