Job title: Epidemiologist II (FFTL)

The Epidemiologist II will work primarily with the Electronic Surveillance System for the Early Notification of Community-based Epidemics (ESSENCE) platform, which collects near-real-time data from patient encounters at healthcare facilities across the state. Key responsibilities include:

• Conduct VPD and viral respiratory disease data management, cleaning, and analysis using statistical software, including R. Create and implement data quality processes, including those related to using ESSENCE syndromic surveillance data for disease surveillance. Enhance capacity for outbreak and emerging respiratory virus detection using ESSENCE.
• Collaborate with the VPD & Viral Respiratory Disease Data and Surveillance Section, the Syndromic Surveillance Coordinator, and the Healthcare-Associated Infection Prevention Section, to develop timely and accurate reports and communications about hospitalization levels to various stakeholders. Serve as point of contact for VPD and viral respiratory disease syndromic surveillance data.

Proficiency in statistical analysis software is required (R preferred). Previous experience with syndromic surveillance data is preferred but not required.
